L. x intermedia
Also called "lavandins," these hybrid varieties are considerable larger than the angustifolias. They usually grow to a height of 3 feet and 36-42 inches in diameter.
They are hardy, but slightly less so than the angustifolias.
Their long flower stems (peduncles) are ideal for making lavender wands. Although sometimes used in cooking, most lavandins contain camphor, which give a medicinal taste. The most common varieties are Provence, Grosso, and Fred Boutin.
